The Tranche 2 enrolment deadline: 29 July 2026, not 31 March
Overview. The AUSTRAC enrolment deadline for Tranche 2 entities is 29 July 2026. Obligations commenced on 1 July 2026, and enrolment opened on 31 March 2026. If you have read that the deadline is "31 March 2026", that is incorrect: 31 March was the opening date, not the deadline.

Why the 31 March myth is so common
31 March 2026 is a real and important date: it is when the reform framework commenced and when enrolment opened. It is easy to mistake an opening date for a deadline, and a number of third-party blogs and advisories have done exactly that. When you are planning your firm's compliance, work to the 29 July 2026 enrolment deadline, and remember the obligations themselves have applied since 1 July 2026.
What to do before 29 July 2026

- If captured, enrol with AUSTRAC before 29 July 2026.
- Appoint your compliance officer and notify AUSTRAC by the later of 29 July 2026 or 14 days after enrolment.
