Cancelling a verification
Overview. If you send a verification you no longer need (wrong person, a duplicate, or a client who will not proceed), you can cancel it while it is still open. Cancelling closes the request so the client's link stops working, and marks the check as cancelled in your records. It is only possible before a check finishes, and it cannot be undone.
Who can cancel
Available to account owners and admins. If you do not see the cancel action, you likely have a standard user role; ask an owner or admin to cancel it.
How to cancel a verification
- Go to your dashboard (identity.stackgo.io/dashboard) and open the verification.
- While the request is still open, the page shows the live verification link. Next to it is a cancel (bin) action. For a check waiting on your staff review, you will instead see a short note that the request has not been completed and can still be cancelled, with the same action.
- Click it. A confirmation appears titled "Cancel Verification, this action cannot be undone".
- Confirm. You see a "Verification Cancelled" confirmation and return to the dashboard.
What cancelling does
- The client's link stops working. A client who follows it sees a message that the check has been cancelled.
- The check is marked cancelled and closed. The record is kept in your account with a cancelled status.
- Any active biometric session is halted.
- It cannot be undone. If you cancel by mistake, send a new verification.
When you can and cannot cancel
- You can cancel while a check is in progress and has no result, including one sitting with your team for review.
- You cannot cancel once a check has finished (Positive, Negative or Review), or otherwise completed. There is nothing in progress to stop.
If a request has simply lapsed, an Expired check has already stopped on its own; you do not need to cancel it.
If you still need to verify the person
Because cancelling cannot be reversed, send a fresh verification from Direct Verification (identity.stackgo.io/direct-verification) or via your usual integration. They complete the new link as normal.

How do I cancel a verification I sent by mistake? Open the verification from your dashboard. While the check is still open, a cancel (bin) action appears next to the live link. Confirm it. Cancelling closes the request so the client can no longer use the link, and it cannot be undone.
Can I cancel a check that is already finished? No. Cancelling is only available while a check is still in progress. Once a verification has a result, it can no longer be cancelled.
I cancelled a verification but still need to verify the person. What now? Send them a fresh verification. Cancelling cannot be reversed, so start a new check from Direct Verification or via your integration.
