Setting up and resetting your risk assessment PIN
Overview. Your risk assessment PIN is a unique 6-digit code that identifies you when you sign off a Tranche 2 risk assessment. Each team member who carries out risk assessments has their own, it is personal to you, and it is stored securely so it cannot be looked up later. This article covers setting it up, using it, keeping it safe, and resetting it.
What the PIN is for
When you complete or approve a risk assessment, your PIN records that it was you who signed it off. It is your signature on the assessment, which is why it is unique to you and should never be shared. Having your PIN set also keeps risk-assessment sign-off available on your account, including where a risk assessment is completed through a public link.
Setting up your PIN
The first time, IdentityCheck generates a unique 6-digit PIN for you and shows it to you once.
Write it down and keep it somewhere safe that only you can access. The PIN is stored securely and cannot be retrieved or shown again, so the moment it is generated is the only time you will see it. If you do not record it, the only way to get a working PIN again is to reset it.
Only team members who are set up to review risk assessments have a PIN. If PIN management is not available for you, your account admin controls who is an eligible reviewer.
Keep it to yourself
Your PIN is personal. Each team member has their own unique PIN, and it should not be shared with colleagues or written into shared documents or emails. Because it records who signed a risk assessment, sharing it would undermine your compliance record.
Resetting your PIN
If you know your current PIN, you can reset it yourself. Enter your current 6-digit PIN, and a new one is generated and shown to you once. Write the new one down straight away, for the same reason as before.
If you have forgotten your PIN
If you no longer have your PIN, it cannot be looked up or told to you, and you cannot reset it yourself without it. Log a support ticket with StackGo and we will reset it for you, after which you can set a new one. To avoid this, always write your PIN down somewhere only you can access the moment it is first generated.
